My name is Jamie, and I have never actually beaten a Mortal Kombat game. I’ve played most, but of the ones we have featured so far MK1, MK2, MK3, MKM:SZ, and SM, we have either given up because they are TERRIBLE (Mythologies), or hit the Goro-like wall that we can’t beat even on the easiest settings.
With that, I thought I would see if there is a Mortal Kombat game I can beat, and with people complaining this is an easy one I though, “I suck at fighters, so I’ll try the easy one!” and dove right on in. Continue reading
I have a history with Mortal Kombat, I used to think it was the greatest thing ever, but after replaying 1, 2, 3, and bits of Sub Zero: Mythologies, it became clear to me that Mortal Kombat wasn’t just a poor game, it was a pretty terrible series. It controls badly, it looks poor, and simply traded on the fact it was controversial.
But I’m a glutton for punishment, and on a whim, I selflessly bought my housemate a copy of MK:SM so we could play it. What happened next was unexpected. Continue reading

You may have noticed a theme from my Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2 reviews, and even I am starting to wonder if I have some sort of agenda against the series. Stick with me though, I will hopefully make some eloquent points, or at least make SOME sense. With the E3 announcement of Mortal Kombat X, it got me thinking… are they really up to 10? Are they doing a weird Megaman X sub series? Or, like GTA, do they just make the numbers up? (They made the numbers up, there are about 18 of them).
Of course, I digress, as I normally do. But I wanted to go back and play the first Mortal Kombat on the Megadrive (Genesis) and see if the old rose tinted glasses were in full effect, or if Mortal Kombat was actually a really good game. Continue reading
