Resident Evil: Survivor 2, Code: Veronica. Capcom/Namco (2002) PlayStation 2

I need to stop playing awful Light Gun Games. I am fairly sure I am the only person that likes On-Rails shooters, and I am now fairly sure I have played all the good ones.

In my Resident Evil: Survivor review, I said it was a 40% game as a Light Gun Shooter or 45% as a Resident Evil experience, but somehow added up to a decent enough gaming experience, and in the Dino Stalker Review I didn’t especially like it, but it was just about functional.

With that, we scrape the Resident Evil barrel and what is left of Light Gun Games barrel to see if we have an at least functional game.

Time Crisis 3. Namco (2003) PlayStation 2

time-crisis-3-playstation-2

The Time Crisis series has been a little hit and miss for me [intentional semi-pun]. Time Crisis was good in the day, but nowadays it struggles when compared to it’s peers. Time Crisis II is a great game, Project Titan was actually OK, and Crisis Zone was, to be kind, mediocre. So going into Time Crisis 3 I was hoping it would build on TC2, which again, was great. Gunfighter 1 was a really slow Time Crisis clone, it looked like shit, and didn’t play much better. And since I am coming close to the end of collection of Light Gun Games it was a case of barrel scraping, and seeing what is left. Continue reading

Also known as Death Crimson OX on the Dreamcast. It was a released in 2000 in the arcade, got a Japan only Dreamcast port in 2001, and then finally made it’s way to PS2 in December 2004.

Given 4 years since initial release you’d obviously expect some polish. Continue reading

Crisis Zone, also known as Time Crisis – Crisis Zone, and if you can’t already tell is a Light Gun game spin off of the Time Crisis series. Originally released in 1999 in the arcades using a nifty plastic Steyr Mannlicher TMP for the light gun. We were then treated to a home port in late 2004. Continue reading
