The Best Reviews

13Time Crisis. Namco (1997) PlayStationUp two
14FIFA International Soccer. EA Sports. (1993) SEGA GenesisNew Entry
15World Cup Italia ’90. Sega (1990) Sega GenesisDown six

These stats all pretty fascinating to me, it was nice to see 1942 surge up the charts with stats going crazy in October and then consistently performing well since, so that is my tip for a top 5 of reviews next year.

The FIFA World Cup gave a nice boost to all the Football reviews helping FIFA International make the chart.

One major surprise was Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell dropping off a cliff. Back In March it was looking like it would be troubling the top 3 after 18 months of solid progress and increasing popularity, however in April the views simply stopped, and went on to receive about 8 views for the rest of the year.

The worst

It wouldn’t be a review of the year if we didn’t include the stinkers now would it? These 10 reviews got less than 20 views collectively… So yeah. They bombed to fuck didn’t they!

10Dead Island, Techland. (2011) Xbox 360
9Dark Souls II. From Software (2014) Xbox 360
8Dead Rising 2, Capcom (2010) XBox 360
7Gears of War, Epic Games (2006) XBOX 360
6Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic Team (2006). PlayStation 3
5Dead Rising. Capcom (2006) XBox 360
4Guitar Hero II. Harmonix/Activision. (2007) Xbox360
3Hogan’s Alley. Intelligent Systems (1987) Nintendo
2Outlast, Red Barrels (2013) PC
1Dirge Of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix (2006) Playstation 2

Let’s be honest though, those games are all pretty meh. Except Outlast. I demand you read Scrambles review of Outlast!

Turns out nobody likes it when we do Zombie games, so maybe avoid those in future.

The New

These are the best performing new articles of the year!

1Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior. Palace Software (1987) Commodore 64
2Soccer Brawl. SNK (1992) Neo Geo
3Bucky O’Hare. Konami (1992) Arcade
4Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Capcom (1993) Arcade
5The Last of Us. Naughty Dog (2013) PlayStation 3
6The Simpsons Arcade Game. Konami (1991) Arcade
7Primal Rage. Atari Games (1994) Super Nintendo
8Virtua Racing. SEGA AM2 (1994) Sega Genesis
964th Street: A Detective Story. C.P. Brain (1991) Arcade
10Goal Goal Goal. SNK (1995) Neo Geo

Last of Us looked the shoe in for top review of the year in September, but a late interest in all things arcade saw some plucky almost obscure titles surge to the top. I think the massive boobies on the Barbarian box probably helped a lot…

The best of the best

Finally, here is our top 10 of everything.

1Fallout Maps Overlayed
2Light Gun Games, why you need an old TV
3Resident Evil: REBirth. Capcom (2002) Gamecube
4Top 15 Light Gun Guns
5Games Revisited All Time Top 50 Retro Games
6Slap Michael Gove. Us Vs Th3m. (2014) Web Browser
7The Oregon Trail. MECC (1990) Internet Archive
8Resident Evil 2. Capcom (1998) PlayStation.
9Fallout series rated, the Top 5 mainline Fallout games
10Oddworld Abe’s Oddysee. Oddworld Inhabitants. (1997) Playstation/PC

Guess who is going to start doing clickbait-ey articles on Fallout and Light Gun games to artificially boost our ratings.

My Favourites of the year

1Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Konami (1997) PlayStation
2Top 30 Light Gun Games
3Dark Souls. From Software (2011) Xbox 360
4Zombies Ate My Neighbors. LucasArts/Konami (1993) Super Nintendo
5Bucky O’Hare. Konami (1992) Nintendo

My Top 30 Light Gun games really was a labour of love. I don’t think you’ll ever appreciate my love for such a simple form of gaming. Dark Souls makes the list as it is the only game I have repeatedly played this year often to the detriment of time to keep the site going.

And let’s hope Zombies isn’t struck by our Zombie curse next year.

Well that’s all thanks for a great year and see you all in 2019.

I'm awesome. I write about videogames occasionally but spend most time painting and playing Warhammer in varying formats.
