I have been going pretty crazy buying stuff recently, I filled the larger bookcase at home, and a friend gave me another one for free. Which is now also nearly full. I figured writing down what I had not played would be a good way to stop me buying more games.
I’m not going to start doing Backlog gaming, as that is done better by Conquering the gaming backlog and Particle Bit. But I am going to list here what I have in the hope that it motivates me to play what is in this list, and stops me buying more.
There are a few duplicates across systems, and I haven’t listed every version of Super Mario Bros I own (about 6) and where things go out of alphabetical order it is because they are loose case games, and are arbitrarily stacked.
On the off chance there is a game in this list you want me to cover let me know in comments, and I’ll bump it towards the top.

Jeeeeez. You’ve got your work cut out for you. And I thought my backlog was bad!

Yeah, around 290 games there. There are a few i’ll probably never bother with (most of the sports/racing games).
I am hoping this list stops me buying more, especially when there are so many that I really want to play.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s the problem isn’t it. You buy more and others never get played as a result. PS+ and Xbox GwG keeps adding more and more to mine too!

I had been trying to talk myself into getting an XBONE or PS4 for things like Resident Evil HD and Last of Us, but I have like 5 years worth of backlog here.
Most of those sports titles are parts of bundles when I bought a console, so I don’t feel bad about not playing them.
LikeLike
Thing with most sports games is you technically cants finish them, unless they have a storyline as a few racers and the new FIFA game do. So I wouldn’t feel too bad about skipping them. I feel I could do with a week or two of being a hermit to catch up on my gaming.

Can’t beat most sports games, but you can play 20 matches/20 races which will give you an idea of how good it is as a simulation. And you can talk about the mechanics.
Same with most tournament fighters like Street Fighter, you can tell if it is good/balanced fairly quickly. Obviously it takes years to become pro.
I have my eyes on all the Final Fantasy and Silent Hills in my list

Silent Hill is always a good one for my tastes. Find them very engaging. Good luck getting through all those Final Fantasy games in the next 12 months :-p

Whoa, if I had all these stuff I could spend my days just watching them on the shelves!

It takes me 2-3 hours to decide what to play next. I don’t want to say it is a curse, but it is a curse…

Play Alex the Kidd.
Then do a flip.

I’ll do the flip, not Alex Kidd.

Oh man, that backlog! I thought mine was bad too, but you win (you know, because you have more novel games to play!). Are these all actually games you’ve never beaten?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Of the 290ish I’ve beaten maybe 100 of them at some point. But they are mostly new games I’ve never played.

Shit, just counted. Only played/completed about 50 of those, and most of those are Xbox 360 games

Wow, there are a lot of classics in there too! You’re in for a great time since you haven’t played a bunch of these awesome games.

Wow man, I think your backlog is even bigger than mine.
https://dreager1.com/games-on-the-backburner/
As Mr. Panda said, you’ve got quite a lot of awesome games on that backburner list like Twilight Princess and Tekken 5. How do you decide which games to play next aside from when you take requests? I usually choose the shortest ones and then pick a really long one. Then back to short and etc.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I do some short ones and schedule the post. Then gives me a couple of weeks to get my teeth into something.
It just took me 3 weeks to beat Eternal Darkness. So I’ll have a go at some short stuff before I take maybe FFXIII
LikeLiked by 1 person
That definitely makes sense. A game like FFXIII definitely takes a while. I put in about 60 hours before completing that game although you can certainly do it in less, I just did some extra grinding to make the final boss easier. It’ll be cool to see what you think of it.

XIII is certainly high up my list as I’ve never played it. I usually try to do all endgame on FFs first one I gave up on is X.

Buy more gaaaaames… you must buy more gaaaaaames… (says the collector who is also drowning in backlog…)
You have a wonderful collection and a substantial backlog! I know the feeling of not knowing what to play next. I’ve been playing EarthBound for months and some days I get so excited to play other things but I won’t let myself until I finish what I’ve started. It’s maddening!
I would love for you to play Toejam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron. It’s one of my favourite Megadrive/Genesis games, and it’s a really quirky and interesting game to play. Or any of your Final Fantasy games would do just fine too. My personal favourites are IV and IX, so do IV!

Toejam is a good shout, and I’m looking for a longer game too, so FF is a potential too. I try to schedule 2-3 weeks a head then I have time for a long game with no pressure to rush it.

I hope so much that you enjoy FFIV. There are some genuinely funny moments in that game, and the story is also really great.

I played 4 right after 6 and struggled a bit with the mechanics, I was getting a bit frustrated new features from 6 weren’t there.
I decided to stop playing just after Cecil changes, so I could go back to it and not have 6s controls stuck in my head.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That might be fun! I liked Cecil’s character better before he changed to be honest! I hope if you do play that you really love the rest of the story. Things get pretty good along the way, and the last boss battle music is some of my favourite from any video game.
I played FFI right before playing FFIV, and one feature I was grateful that they upgraded was being able to buy more than one thing at once. The shop music while buying 99 individual potions was catchy, thankfully.

Thanks for the shout out! That’s quite a backlog you got there, and it definitely puts mine to shame! Ocarina of Time is my all time favourite game. I highly recommend you get to that someday 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ocarina is a game I’ve played before, so I know I like it. Always held back on doing it again because I’m slightly worried I won’t like it anymore.

Your gonna need a caffeine IV,lose your girlfriend, cut out all spending except for rent electricity and internet. (F*ck heat, that’s what alcohol and blankets are for!) This shit is going to take you another 20 years. (At least that’d be my pace!) My backlog is gonna take me that long, if not longer…
Look forward to all of the revisits!

The rate I play it will be 5 years before I get through that. My aim is not buy anymore till I get through about 50. And have just finished 1 of them, so 49 to go!
Also depends if any of the other writers on this site do any writing. Craig reckons he’ll do Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) for Halloween. That’d cross that game off my list.
I have 2 more scheduled for release before any of the backlog reviews start to appear.

Remember dude, do this for yourself and try to enjoy life outside, as well. I mean that, seriously. The backlog is simply that…a backlog.

🙀 Many backlog…much games…wow! Seriously though – it’ll never stop you from buying more. NEVER. I’ve been telling myself that for years – it never works.

I’ve managed to go a whole 10 days without buying something. I am starting on get twitchy, but at same time I’m enjoying forcing myself on play some things I have been putting off.

Also, quick question, that cactuar, does he move on his own??? Cuz i kinda think he’s watching me!

Timesplitters 2, KOTR and Simpsons Hit and Run would be my suggestions for you to prioritise. But lots of great games in there, you have some good times ahead!
